I have never owned a drone before and I'm ready to start. I'm looking at the DJI mini 4 pro. Is that a good drone for beginners? Also, should I purchase from DJI or Best buy?

DJI isn't in the business of selling beginner drones. While their drones are pretty advanced when compared to a true beginner-like drone, they are all very easy to fly and perfect for anyone who is a beginner or professional drone pilot.

As for which type of drone is best for you, that all depends on the features you need. You can compare the most notable features of all DJI consumer drones here.

Those are both great places to buy. Amazon is also a good place to buy. You can find many Mini 4 Pro deals here.

Would you recommend insurance with the drone? Best buy offers insurance but it doesn't cover fly aways. Are fly aways very common? I don't want to lose the drone.

Look into DJI Care Refresh. I have State Farm, although drone coverage is not available in some states.

When you buy, watch Youtube videos on how to get started and stay away from trees. Resist the urge to take it for a spin in your back yard, better yet try to find an experienced op to come out with you the first time. I have done that.

I'd go with the 1-year or 2-year DJI Care Refresh plan from DJI. You'll get better service working directly with DJI.

Might consider visiting MavicPilots.com or NeoPilots.com for more info on the entry-level DJI drones.

Honestly when it comes to ease of use and flying. The Avata2 with the motion controller is crazy easy. Especially if you start out at beginner mode. I think the bigger question is what do you want to do long term? Fun flying, acrobatics, FPV stuff, or slower, cinematic camera stuff?
