Engineer building their first quad as a side project. For fun I am exploring how I could fly a quad from a laptop. I am using a UVC OTG FPV Receiver to replace FPV goggles, allowing the analog video signal to be easily displayed on a smartphone or laptop.

Now, how to replace the transmitter? Could computer software + a USB radio transmitter module replace a transmitter? Would be grateful to know any existing projects or products. Or which TX protocols are more suitable/ open source.

I am thinking the software needs to turn keyboard or joystick inputs into TX protocol radio signals, which are then passed to a USB radio module for transmission. The receiver is none the wiser.

Haven't found much online. I can see issues, like reverse engineering TX protocols, telemetry... I have an FrSky ACCESS D16 reciever at the moment, might have been a bad choice..
