Everything updates together from the app, or you can use Assistant on a PC to update the components separately.

You connect the phone to the goggles, and make sure the drone and the controller are switched on and connected. Then the app will update everything. If you update and have multiple batteries; make sure to cycle those as well, as these need to be updated as well. If you have the motion controller, make sure to update everything (inlcuding batteries) as well... This did force an update of all my devices in my case...
