In another thread that got a bit crossed up, it was said, 'Being that the FAA is using folks videos to prosecute them, they are much safer if they don't post any.'. I don't understand the reference to the FAA using folks videos to prosecute them. The implication I got was that they were viewing online videos and evaluating them and potentially prosecuting folks based on that. That seems a bit far fetched. Would somebody elaborate? There are plenty of videos online that break FAA rules. Videos of distance tests, instructional videos with one person using an FPV and nobody watching the drone....the list goes on and on. Can somebody point to examples of the FAA searching out videos and prosecuting people based on a youtube video or am on not getting it?

The FAA does not randomly search youtube. They follow up on complaints from viewers of those videos, epecially the ones that are monentized. Also it is hard for the FAA to prosecute on many of those videos since now most are smart enough not to include themselves on video being the pilot or their location.

Your not getting it , no one is being prosecuted quite so quickly. First you have to be reported to the FAA for your video, they take a quick look at and if they see you broke the rules by a substantial amount , for instance VLOS is 1.2 miles according one FAA agent than they are going to talk to you and warn you. However if there is an incident , well that is another level an it would make sense your going to be prosecuted by someone.
