I would think not, but he probably could have. I worked with a pretty gifted coder once, we had a huge opportunity if we could tweak our existing OC3 test set to test OC3c too. It wasn't an easy ask and we didn't know how to get the couple of man months together to hit the deadline (I think it was Sprint) had on us for the big sale. So anyway, this guy goes home on Friday and comes back in Monday morning having essentially rewritten the entire base code to allow concatenation. 1 day later the FPGA tweaks were done and everything worked with only minor debugging, pretty amazing.
There are many such brilliant coders that mod their passion on such open source projects, so I doubt Boris did much if any of the work. And the reality is that with the existing infrastructure it would be a reasonable lift to tweak a few function calls that were not standard, link the right libraries for the given OS's, recompile and start testing and debugging it. A ton of work had already been done by so many.
