So I call on my great tech gurus again as I seem to have power looped straight into a pile of seaweed. OMG what a mess.
My whole bird, once I got to it was almost completely buried in old Dead Seaweed on the beach.
Not sure what happened but all fine then no control what so ever. Anyway now a motor down. No magic smoke but very funky smell and dead.
So dilemma time.
Replace one, or upgrade all 4.
Stock is 2205 2300kv.
Let’s not forget I’m in AUS so prices are different.
Think it’s time to start my own repairs too so Randy/Virtue I hope you have some time to spare?

I'd stick with the motor size your comfy with but you can also tune a higher kv motor down. anything over 3.5min is bonus and I'm getting 4+ with 2306-2400. no heat.. hardly warm.
As for the funk n gunk, when the mini starts looking like a weed eater, i use standard cleaner w/o bleach.. kitchen counter type cleaner. then switching out qtips in between (one end has soap the other alcohol]), i come back over the boards with a rubbing alcohol loaded qtip to help dry water.
check your connections once you get them all clean. virtue nailed it with the motor swap.
a good bath never hurt anything.. accept my cat ( :

So sorry for you you @Wayno52 I have been slammed busy and only get a few minutes a day to glance at the forum. I am feeling guilty
because I haven't taken a hard look at @Futuramille cam/vtx wiring yet and I need to find some time to do that in case he still is having issues.

As Vv said, I will somehow make time if needed Wayne, you just let me know.

Randy

It’s all good guys, I understand you are all busy. I feel sorry that you’re not getting much, if any flight time.
Thanks for the info, I will clean up like you suggested Futura. Swap motors to determine if esc great tip Virtue. And stick with stock motors as I know they handle well and don’t want to reduce air time. At the moment I get about 4 min and nothing hot.
As usual great advice thanks all.

just take your time. I work under a magnifying glass cause my oldish eyes...
we run that 3" hard and it can get grimy going through five elephant ear leaves... several times. those are juicy!
i find it a great time to inspect joints and such.
what I'm considering is how best to routinely remove the motor casings and clean the windings etc. 3" is C clips . ... uggg. the 5" has screws though so no issue there hopefully. i just haven't done it yet. for now i use compressed air and blow them out..

Futura I’m back at work tomorrow and compressed air is what I was also thinking of using to clean it as much as possible.
Then start finding out just how much damage is done over the weekend.
