I have been really looking forward to getting the DJI FPV... I originally had a mavic air 2
but fancied getting into FPV but I now find out it's been discontinued for the Avatar 2.
Is this a good thing ? I see the A2 is slower
but obviously won't disintegrate the moment it comes into contact with a twig.
Should I be disappointed or is the A2 a good replacement for the FPV

I got an Avata 2 about 2 weeks ago and LOVE IT!! Have a Mavic Mini as well but wanted the FPV and after researching a lot I went with the Avata 2. NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL!🤙🏼

Thanks for your reply. I don't know why but I just automatically assumed that the A2 wasn't going to live up to the FPV, probably because it's not as fast.
Good to hear from people who actually have one that it does. Looking forward to getting it.... thank you 👍🏻

It... doesn't. They're different beasts both with their strengths and weaknesses.

I have both and wouldn't consider the A2 a replacement IF you have the environment to play with the FPV. And yeah it's all about that speed.

If I could only have one I'd probably keep the A2 because it can do close quarter stuff while also going for longer range excursions... just that those feel like "waiting to get there" unlike the FPV.

Definitely not a replacement, but an improvement in every way, for a beginner just getting into FPV, who may later graduate to the much faster FPV, once they have mastered the Avata 2. I own both, and agree that if one could only own one, the Avata 2 would be the more practical choice, except for the need for speed!

So here's my dilemma... you can still get the FPV on Amazon here in the UK but not on the DJI site as it's discontinued. It comes with goggles integra and controller 2
Or do I get the A2 which comes with goggles 3 and motion 3
If I don't get the FPV now it will go out of stock every where at some point and then would have to be a second hand one off EBay.
First world problems I know

Avata 2 will do over 60MPH in manual mode. That's FAST!😆 It is limited with the motion controller to about 40 which kinda sucks but its probably so people don't accidentally kill anyone.😆🤙🏼

If, after mastering the the Avata 2, you still find you can't live without the extra 30mph of the FPV, a lightly used second hand one would be a good choice, and save a bunch of money. They will all be crashed eventually anyway, and DJI's repair service replaces it with a brand new unit, after only billing you for the repair of whatever is needed, even if it is relatively minor. Even after discontinuing it, they still "repair" them with new units held back, that they refused to sell.
