@JonD I've flown today 1 direction 4.6km ( around 15.000 feet ) full manual mode, nothing happened except it notified me about returning home for the battery reasons. In total I've flown around 9.5km distance 31.000 feet with no issues.

Maybe they don’t want you flying manual mode out of stabilization just that far... bummer if so as I’d assume the failsafes would do the job if you lost connection like the panic/hold function

If that's the case they were high on meth, coke, and were snorting glue when they made that design decision ? ? ?

I mean, from a safety standpoint relative to the pilot, FPV is the same at 8000ft than it is at 10ft. At least in my very scant, noob experience so far.
