Mach 25 and SF Bay Area events

Hi,
Newb to drones here. I'm in the market for a drone but I can't find any upcoming events in the SF Bay Area where I could fly it Something where I could practice with other newb's.
Also, Mach 5 looks like a decent choice for a beginner but I'm open to suggestions.
