If I buy a second Hand DJI FPV in January from say EBay: could I run into problems if the seller doesn't un bind the Drone from their account or can I do this ok myself from my end. Basically would there be a way round it ??

You do need to make sure they remove it from the account otherwise it's going to be a paperweight.

Yes or you will not be able to add the drone to your account.

I purchased a Avata from a estate sale about one year ago. I had the same problem with the drone not removed from the last owner's account. The owner had passed away so there was no way to get the drone released from his account. I tried contacting DJI but they said there was nothing that could be done. I ended up taking it to the e-waste disposal site. It went into the grinder never to be seen again.

I had much the same experience with my used Avata. It flies fine but I am unable to bind any different controller or goggles to it or register it with the authorities correctly or modify it in any way. Make sure the original owner removes it from their DJI account! DJI won't help you because they feel the need to discourage resale thinking it will motivate us to only buy new ones.

You can get a bound drone. It happened to me twice. Fortunately both times I contacted the seller and they unbound it. I believe eBay's rules of selling drones requires a seller to list if it's a bound drone or not. If it's bound it might fall under the perimeters of "broken or for parts only".
