3" Build for Jerry - A tiny monster

I went out and did a test flight today. The tune seemed pretty good but at about a minute in, I crashed 30ft up in a tree. It took a while to build a 30ft pole to get it down, so I couldn't check the motor temps. Also the crash sheared off the 7-segment LED from the VTX.

So now I am gonna replace it with a Tramp HV, which initially I didn't think would fit but it will If I swap the positions of the RX and VTX. I don't want to take out my receiver yet to put in the XM+ until I confirm the motors aren't getting too hot. Hopefully I will get another test flight in after the in-laws are done visiting (VTX still works without the LED).

Oh yeah, it wasn't that bad of a crash and I was able to almost catch it on the way down so it didn't hit the ground hard.

I could be wrong, but judging by the punchouts I have done it will be fast.

Two steps forward, three steps back. I got the top off, installed the tramp and moved the receiver to its new spot. It is a tight squeeze getting the top of the frame back on. In the process, I knocked the heat shrink off one of the motor Paracord sleeves. So now I get to take apart the stack, desolder the motor, re-heat shrink and solder the motors back. Yay! Luckily I won't need to desolder anything else from the FC since I already disconnected the camera and VTX.

Getting closer... now waiting on a new SMA pigtail, an antenna and a couple other little things. New props among them, I think these 3045 tri-blades are too much prop for 4S. But I have gotten the layout more or less finalized. Once that stuff comes in I can get the tune finished, 3030 props will need a different tune. I will leave the 3045 tune on profile 2 just in case.

I forgot Gemfans were so fragile. But I have been reading these brotherhobby 1407-4100kv might like 3030's better. The 3045's we're finicky with oscillation and drained the battery quickly. To fly the 3045s the PIDs also had to be super low.

It seems pretty good with some 3030 tri-blades. The oscillation seems gone, or at least I didn't notice it on my test flight on stock PIDs. I hope you like it, I'm sure you can tune it up just how you like it.

This is one gorgeous bird! Your meticulous attention to every last detail is amazing! If it flies half as good as it looks it will be a beast! Thank you very much for taking the time and energy to build me such an awesome bird! The name isn't going to work though, it will be named "The Green Orange SE"! The colors certainly match the name and I am extremely proud to be it's owner!

The receiver is in. The bind button is exposed and I didn't tape it down so you shouldn't have any trouble binding without removing anything.

I will get it all packed up and mailed out either today or tomorrow, hope you enjoy!
