Hi everyone,

I’m new to FPV drones and have only flown a couple of times in real life, but I’ve spent many hours on simulators. I’m now planning to build my first drone and want to create a reliable 7-inch cinematic setup. However, I don’t have much experience with drone components or compatibility, so I’d love some advice on the build I’ve put together.

Here’s what I’m planning to use:

  • Frame: TBS Source One V5 7-Inch Deadcat
  • Motors: iFlight Xing 2806.5 1300KV
  • Propellers: HQProp 7x4x3
  • ESC: Mamba F50 Pro 50A 4-in-1
  • Flight Controller: Mamba F722 MK2
  • FPV Camera: DJI O3 Air Unit (with onboard 4K recording)
  • Receiver: TBS Crossfire Nano RX
  • Battery: CNHL Black Series 6S 3000mAh
  • Extras: Matek M8Q-5883 GPS and a TPU GoPro mount for my Hero 6.
I’m wondering if this is a good combination of parts for a beginner’s build and whether they’re fully compatible with each other. Are there any components you’d recommend changing to make it better or easier to work with as a first-time builder?

I’d really appreciate any feedback or tips to help me get started on the right track. Thanks so much for your help!

Pretty solid component list. I’d offer 2 ideas:
1) tunings a big part of building quads. It’s easier than ever but 7” quads can be difficult. The frame choice is the most important. Personally I would go with a Chris Rosser frame or something that is proven to reduce vibrations. I’ve neverer tried a source one frame but aren’t they on the cheaper side? Also, why deadcat if you are carrying a GoPro?
2) I would use a tbs diversity rx with one vertical and one horizontal antenna. When you put that much $$ in the sky you need confidence it will not lose signal at long distances.
Good luck!
