Can't Turn Hand Controller off

I haven't flown in 9 or months or so. Got everything out and started charging the bats.
After I plugged the hand controller into the C connector, 2 lights on top started to blink and after 3 minutes, the darned thing starts beeping at me. If I hit the power button, the beeping stops but starts up again in 3 minutes.
How do I turn the controller off? No way to pull the battery. Thought all I had to do was to depress the power button for 10 seconds or so, and it would power down.

So...HELP!!!

What controller? If it's a DJI one the same way as you turn on / off almost all DJI things, short press followed by long press.

Ahhh...As I was in the AVATA thread base, I simply forgot to mention that. I was asking about the AVATA hand controller.
Tap and and taphold, did not work.
I may have to send it back to DJI for repair
