Carrying Case?

I almost went to Harbor Freight yesterday to do the same with one of thier boxes..

Nanuk and B&W also have other colors as well.

And that’s fine for you, as they say, Different strokes for different folks. I hope it works well for you! I’ll continue to wait for now.
Yes it will be good for me but nobody has mentioned this case yet in a thread so I thought I would put it out there.

Promise it will make owning this drone 100x more fun!
Ok, you talked me into it, went to Harbor freight and picked up an orange one to try out. Seems so small!

Interior of this one is 17x13 ish the Nanuk 945 is 22x17 ish this is more the size of the 925 or 930 Nanuk. Debating plucking or returning.

Yes that does seem awfully cramped. So, the orange Nanuk 945 is still at 154 on Amazon. Seriously, get that and pluck it out. Use that, and then get a custom foam from Foama for the 945. This is the route I am taking. Quite possibly the best interim solution, at least for me.

So are you sure we can get just the foam from Foama? I'd hate to get the case and then have to buy it all over again with the cut foam in it!

And do you have a link to that case on amazon? I cant find it.

I emailed Foama, and Rod assured me that once they are done updating the foam according to the feedback they received from customer cancellations with OmniTech, the foam can be directly purchased from them. Email them, and definitely share what they say. Don’t use their web form to contact them. Use the email address [email protected]

more than likely you will interact with Rod as well.

No can find that Nanuk 945 on amazon anywhere, heck just an empty one was $178...

DJI is now shipping the backpack case for the DJI FPV drone that was originally advertised but not available! I found it in the DJI store.

Its coming early, supposed to be here tomorrow. Any words of advice on plucking the foam? I've never tried it.
Yes! Absolutely do not do what I did :) use chalk to work out the top foam and then cut it all up. You get two layers of pluckable foams with equal dimensions, MOST of your work will be the FIRST layer.

For batteries honestly you just need 3x5 pieces removed. Perfect size for the battery. You will not need to go down to the second foam

the only things you’d need to break into the second foam for would be the goggles, the RC, the MC ((if storing vertically), and the two landing gear “legs”, and a small bit of foam removed to fit in the battery protruding from the drone itself.

apart from that you will not need to touch the second foam at all.

I would also recommend that you accomodate the drone area (the largest chunk of foam you will remove) in such a way that the drone would fit both when the propellers are positioned to the extremes and occupying the largest area.

take a look at my ghetto job and you will get an idea, and also you will not make the same mistakes I made :)

Oh and you really can’t be afraid of tearing this foam. Always use both hands to ensure that you only tear the parts which you want torn.

Thank you very much, good advice. I'm sure it will look kind of ghettoish also but its got to be better than the range bag I'm using now.

Elaborate a little on what I highlighted above please..

Tomorrow I will be a plucker!!

My apologies I was typing in a hurry! So hold the drone in one of the corners of the first foam plate and arrange the propellers so that the drone “rectangle” occupies the largest area length wise. Mark that as the length with your chalk. Now arrange the propellers again in such a way that the tips extend out to their maximum width. Mark that as your width.

Mark the landing gear holes accordingly. These will be no more than 1x2 holes in the second foam plate. Same for the battery “depression“ in the second foam.

Your aim is to be able to put the drone in and take it out no matter how the propellers are arranged.

If you cut the drone “rectangle” respective to the case’s length and width, you will have a healthy amount of foam left length-wise to arrange five batteries in the first foam plate and the motion controller vertically running both in the first foam plate and into the second.

utilize the rest of the space to stuff in the goggles and and the RC.

Also, pluck conservatively. You can always fine tune your compartments by taking more out, but you can’t “add” foam in :)
