A while back I built an FPV quad, with the intention of actually learning fpv, it went well and the completed drone worked fine, the only 2 down sides were the cheap goggles being no good for someone with glasses and the controller was from a Beta Cetus Pro, in itself though not a bad controller.
Here's my question, the Radiomaster R81 that i bought originally stopped working, so I left it for a while (2 years) then i decided to give it a dust off and try again, i purchased a new R81 but in my haste i knocked a cap of the board and killed it, so i purchased a second one from Banggood, this arrived and after refreshing my knowledge of it i tried to pair it.
This is where i'm up to, when i hold the bind button and plug in the battery ( no mean feat in itself) i get a single red blinking light that appears to blink 4 times then stop briefly and start again, now according to all the google searches i've done it should go steady red, but no matter what i do it just blinks as if its ignoring the bind button, yes im defo pressing it.
A lot of google work led me to nothing solid about what to do apart from one guy on a facebook post who said something about it going through various binding modes but wasnt specific on how he fixed it, to another post saying you have to hold the button down for 10-20 seconds, again tried that and no change.
Yes im to cheap to buy an ESLR ( or whatever they are called) as that means buying a new controller, i'm happy with the Cetus Pro controller.
Things ive done, include ensuring the battery is full charged, checking for 5v at the board ( i even resoldered to another 5v pad to test) multiple tries for an hour but still cant get the light to go steady red (assuming it does). could this be a faulty board, i didnt sign into BG when i bought it and im loathed to spend money on another one but may have to.
So here I am reaching out for help,
PS if i dont reply straight away its because im not always on the PC but i will defo respond as soon as i can
