Questions about getting started

I got my mavic mini a few weeks ago and I have really enjoyed flying it. I really want to get into fpv. I have done some research and watched a few videos on the subject. Most of the information I have read said I would need some sort of a ham radio license. Is there any way that I don't need one? Also can someone point me towards some more in-depth research articles?

Take my information with a grain of salt as the laws are changing and I haven't fully caught up yet but if you transmit on 250mw or less you don't need a license. I transmit on 1w and haven't had a problem but I live in an area that doesn't really care what we do. My brother lives in a densely populated area and it super paranoid so he's getting all sorts of licensing. I guess it all depends on your region and how much your local principality cares. The FAA is really making it all so convoluted.
