Hello, I use my drone to replace my dog walk after his passing.
As such auto return is a pain (both physically and a risk of losing the drone)
I fly it without GPS and low in front of me. So learned to get a new starting point when I reach the sport oval. Then I go at the other end and use the rest of the battery till auto return is triggered (soon after red flashing light shows up)
The drone then shoots up and goes above the starting area and I can fly it perhaps another 5 minutes. Then it lands well.
Remember the GPS was disabled.
I'm a beginner I start the drone then power the controller, next I do horizontal and vertical calibration (I though I had too?) Next I disable the GPS.
But today I managed to start it directly first disabling GPS (never could before?) and auto return did not occur! The red light came on and staid on till the drone landed gently where I was.
Yet I repeated the same procedure and auto return seemed to be on again?
I guess most drone flyers would not use theirs this way but hope someone may have some helpful comments
